ENTROPIA UNIVERSE MAYHEM
Among the usual dynamic events like protecting Fort Lahar from Robot attacks, or Fort Medusa which is exactly the same but for more advanced players, there is a global event called the Mayhem ! Mayhem is like a Grinding Fest, where every players can participate from any planet.
Just press (and stay on) the “interact” button until you see this little window below, then go to System and Event List.
The Global Event List window will open like on the screen below. Go to Global Instances on the left, select the Mayhem Annihilation of your level on the right (the higher the number, the tougher it will be), double click on the line and it will open a smaller window (on the right) with more information about the event. Finally click on Register and it will ask you to confirm your choice. Once you do, you'll enter the instance ! So be prepared
Just follow the little process to enter.
Since 2021 the Mayhem instance is a SOLO one… Previously there was some “Team Competition” but MindArk understood that more money would be invested, if the experience was more relaxing than a Competition. After all we're in a Disguised Casino, and in Casinos players are relaxed in front of their slot machine ?
First of all, you'll arrive in front of a statue or whatever will be in the center of the instance, where all the details of the instance / mission will be given to you. It's pretty straight forward, the more mobs you kill, the more you'll advance in the different stages of the Mayhem, and the more rewards you'll get ! Also to make it even more addictive, there is a Trade and a Repair Terminal in the instance… So you never have to leave it to resplenish
Here is the Merry Mayhem with regular mobs on the left, and the boss on the right ?
There were 4 mayhems before, now only 3 :
- Merry Mayhem from December to January
- Easter Mayhem from March to April
- Summer Mayhem have been replaced by the Longtooth Migration event
- Halloween Mayhem from October to November
Basically It's made to make you Grind mobs as long as possible ! In Merry Mayhem you'll fight Daikibas, in Easter Mayhem it will be Eviscerator Robots, and in Halloween it will be Zombies looking like Maffoids / Feffoids.
Though there is a Timer of 5 hours everytime you enter the Mayhem… But you can enter it several times per day, and in case you leave the instance and come back (happened to me as my computer crashed) the Timer will be reset to 5 hours. Remember EU is a Casino, and Mayhem is the place they designed for you to SPEND A LOT of peds, as you're going to NEED A LOT OF AMMO ? And someone has to pay for the nice Bonus of MindArk Employees isn't it ? ?
ENTROPIA UNIVERSE MAYHEM
Mayhem can be done by anyone as long as you have a weapon good enough to handle the smallest category… We can say that an Armatrix LR-10, or better LR-15 is the smallest weapon with which you can enjoy killing in the first category. Anything below that and it will take you ages to kill even the regular mobs…
Besides every 30-45 minutes, depending on your firepower, a boss will spawn and he will be either twice as strong, either 60-70% stronger than the usual mobs. So in case you just have barely enough firepower to kill the regular mobs, then killing the boss won't be an option… You'll have to add a damage amplifier for the boss or use another gun.
Now the Easter Mayhem with regular robots on the left, and the mega boss on the right ?
Also when you start the Mayhem you have a Mission to choose… Bronze, Silver, Gold or Redulite.
These missions will not define how tough the mobs will be, this was already defined when you chose the categories 1 to 10, these are the levels of difficulty of mobs inside the Mayhem. Bronze to Redulite only define how long the mayhem will be, how many points you'll have to collect in order to finish the missions and so the associated rewards.
In my Entropian life i only completed the Bronze and Silver missions… And the Silver one took me like 45 hours to complete ! Which for me a casual player, was a pain in the ass ! I remember it like if it was yesterday, i was jobless and i was literally falling asleep in front of my computer, after killing the same mobs over and over for hours ! ?
So Gold and Redulite missions are only for… Addicted players or Players making a living with EU. If you're like me a casual player, and by casual in EU i mean you already play like 1 to 2 hours per day, then go for the Bronze ! And only take Silver if you think you'll be able to make enough room in your life to play several times 5 straight hours !
Between you and me, most of the high players (or Ubers) use different softwares to let their Avatars play by themselves… As by the end of the day, it's only a matter of having enough ammo on your avatar, and then you literally just have to click on the “interact” button in order to fire on the nearest mob. So these players just enter the instance with their avatar loaded with ammo, activate the macro to let their avatar kill all day long… and then leave ?
But it doesn't show a good sign of gaming… it just shows how Gambling is part of EU… And it's strictly not enforced by MindArk as by using these macros, these players are also spending a lot of money in the process and… MindArk is a Casino and they love Money more than anything else ? So nothing will be done to prevent macro users.
ENTROPIA UNIVERSE MAYHEM
As i said previously, the Summer Mayhem is no more… It's just an event about killing Longtooths !
Say Hello to Mama Longtooth ? !
But… there is a common thing to all these events…
And it's the fact that MindArk forces players to be on Calypso to retrieve their points from Codex ! The Mayhem is advertised as a Global Instance, which means you can access it from any planets… So why the fuck should we have to travel to Calypso to claim our fucking points ?!? ? Because it's an Eternal War of Mindark vs Planet Partners.
You see if you kill creatures in the Mayhem while being on another planet than Calypso, you'll see the notifications that you have unlocked some Codex, so some nice bonus skills to claim ? But in the Codex window, there will be nothing else than the codex of the creatures related to the planet you're on.
At first i didn't know how it was working so thinking it was a big, I opened a support case on the Entropia Universe website. I wrote everything in detail, it was late like nearly 11 PM… Then i went back in the game, and 5 minutes later received ingame a notification that the support had answered me !
Well i opened the case and was astonished by their answer you can see by clicking on the screenshot below !
Please travel all the way back to Calypso… ?
They literally told me it was normal ! Back in time, I entered the Instance from Next Island, and i should travel all the way from Next island to Calypso just to get 2 fucking Codex rewards ?!? What the fuck are those swedish people smoking ?!?! I'd like to know their drug provider because it seems to be strong stuff ! ?
Because… MindArk wants players to STAY on CALYPSO, and it's a way for MindArk to Fuck Planet Partners !
you see… MindArk advertised their game EU to be a nice Cash Cow, to any companies who wanted to invest in it… So you have people who we call “Planet Partners” who came with fresh new ideas, invested a lot of money, developed their own planets… And so players can decide to go wherever they want to go play !
But when you're not spending your peds on Calypso, you spend them elsewhere where MindArk is not earning a penny… So MindArk didn't like it and did everything in their power to keep the mass of players all year long on Calypso ? Frankly i wouldn't want to be in the shoes of any Planet Partners… To be deceived like that must be unbearable !
So they closed my support case and then i received a mail to note their work… ?
ENTROPIA UNIVERSE MAYHEM
Still the Mayhem is a useful grind fest to…
- Raise your Looter skills in Animal, Robot and Mutant
- Raise your overall fighting skills
- And High Players / Ubers do Profit from these events. (from the lower level players…)
Of course… You're going to shoot non-stop for hours so your avatar should evolve very fast ? It's even recommended to use Experience Pills during Mayhems, like that you'll progress even faster. Also Loot Pills in order to limit the number of mouse clicks ? After all it's going to be intense sessions so the less the better.
Halloween Mayhem with regular zombies on the left, and zombie boss on the right ?
Finally during Mayhem there is a lot of money fluctuations, so much that globals and Hofs will happen too fast ! You know it's like in a Casino, there is a Pool of Money or we can say some kind of gauge, which is only known to the casino owners… And when it's filled it means the Casino made enough money, to release some of it in the hands of a few lucky players ? They made a Profit so they can now give the surplus.
In the case of Mayhem, there are so many players participating at the same time… That the pool of money is constantly overflowed ! And then you see pop-ups of Globals and even Hofs happening every 2 seconds ? Sometimes you don't even have the time to read the pop-up as it's replaced by the next one in line ?
That's why so many players are participating to the Mayhem, they know that Jackpots are going to drop like flies, then of course the chance it drops in their hands will also be much smaller.
There are also other Grind Fests in the form of Quests :
Depends of the planet you're on, but every planet got at least one mission where you need to grind a lot !
- Next Island where you have to kill thousands of creatures to unlock accesses
- Rocktropia where you have to kill hundreds of thousands of vixens
- Monria where one quest for the old gods horns can require thousands as well
- Crystal Palace Station where you have to kill thousands of Aurlis to pass a Door
What i mean is… You don't need to wait for the Mayhem event to grind in EU ?
Calypso also have its secret grinding mission at Fort Medusa :
Die and Supply a Rare Grind mission on Calypso ?
Die and Supply : A Rare mission at Fort Medusa on Calypso, which is normally only given to players regularly doing the Daily mission there. As a matter of fact i got it 4 times in 1 year of doing the dailies. It's a mission requiring to kill A LOT of mobs ! ? But not only that… It will also require many items to “resupply Fort Medusa“. And you'll have to buy all these items from the auctions, or find a seller willing to craft you these for a good price.
Handing over all the items but the reward is worth it ! Generally around 200 Peds Profit ! ?
Well these missions take a lot of time, and we also pay for the entertainment… because even 200 Peds profit is only like winning 20$, so not that big of a deal… ? But in a video game where entertainment should be first priority, it's always good to know we managed to make some profit.
And EU is the only virtual game in the world where you can make some profit then withdraw it… If of course everything goes as planned and you're not stopped by the support ? But we'll talk more about that later.
