What Is MindForce? Entropia's Technological Magic Explained

For Your Information: this article was last updated on July 13, 2026; Revised and Corrected by Claude.

You want to know how to launch fireballs? 😎 In EU there IS magic — but it all comes from your Mind! In the game's lore, Entropia scientists learned to unlock the raw power of the mind and channel it into spectacular effects. "Magic" is just the simplest way to describe it.

MindForce requires a few things to work:

  1. A Payn-Inc Implant Inserter (buy it from the Trade Terminal for ~15 PED, under the "Medical" tab)
  2. A NeoPsion MindForce Implant (the basic NeoPsion 10 is available at the Trade Terminal; higher ones are looted or bought from the auctions)
  3. A Nanochip — the actual "spell" (looted or bought from the auctions)
  4. The right Mind Essence — the "ammo" your chip consumes (from the Trade Terminal)

The Payn-Inc Implant Inserter is used to "insert" the NeoPsion into your head — and that's basically all it does! So once you've used it, you can resell it to the Terminal (you'll get almost all its value back, it only costs a few PEC to use).

  • Open your inventory and the MindForce tab, then drag and drop the NeoPsion onto the Inserter.
  • Equip the Implant Inserter by right-clicking it and selecting "equip".
  • The Inserter will be in your hands — left-click to activate it.

Then you'll get a confirmation window before the "insertion process".

Your avatar will start the insertion, twist and feel pain! He acts as if an Alien (from the movie) were messing with his head — or as if he were inserting the very implant Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to yank out in Total Recall 😅 And by the end of this little "cinematic", your avatar is now ready to use a Nanochip!

Good to know: you only ever insert ONE implant, and you never need to remove it to swap chips. Once the NeoPsion is in your head, it stays there and lets you equip any chip within its level range.

The power of Fire... also works as a torch in the night 😏

Using Nanochips and Their Mind Essence "Ammo"

Using a Nanochip is then as easy as using a gun or a healing tool...

You equip it or assign it to a keyboard key, and you're good to go!

There are many different Nanochips — for Attack, Healing, Teleportation, and more — and each consumes a specific kind of resource. For example, the Combustive Attack Nanochip uses Synthetic Mind Essence: just a different kind of "ammo" you buy from the same Ammo section of the Trade Terminal.

Important — there are actually 3 types of Mind Essence, and using the wrong chip with the wrong one won't work:

  • Synthetic Mind Essence — used by standard single-target Attack and Healing chips (the ones you'll use most)
  • Light Mind Essence — used by Area-of-Effect chips (attack or heal several targets at once)
  • Standard Mind Essence — used by utility chips like Teleportation, Resurrection and special effects

Fun fact tying back to the Free to Play part: Mind Essence is crafted from SWEAT! Vibrant Sweat + Force Nexus (a mined material) makes Mind Essence — which is exactly why sweat has any value at all. So the lowly sweat you gather as a beginner is literally the raw fuel of EU's magic system 😏

Like the guns we discussed in a previous section, Nanochips come in (L) Limited and (UL) Unlimited versions. Again, it depends on the price you find — compare whether the (UL) is worth it versus the (L).

A good example: take the Regeneration Chips (the healing ones). The Unlimited Regeneration Chip 5 is cheap, usually sold around TT+10, and heals you for 33 to 44 HP. Just one level above, the Regeneration Chip 6 sits at TT+40!

And I'm sure you're thinking... "The Regeneration Chip 6 must be 4 times more powerful if it costs 4 times more, right?" WRONG! The Regeneration Chip 6 heals barely 10 more HP! 😕 So for that price difference, the Unlimited version of Chip 6 is not worth it at all! As a rule of thumb — always compare before buying!

MindForce chips can also use Universal Ammo! Remember? That's the result of converting Shrapnels. Since I use both guns and MindForce, it's better to have one type of ammo usable by everything I own.

FYI, I went for MindForce because I was lucky enough to loot both an Attack and a Healing chip from Argonauts (during the daily scientist mission). If I hadn't looted these, I'd probably have waited a long time before trying MindForce.

You see, MindForce is completely optional... some people never use chips. But it always looks great when your avatar starts throwing fireballs at enemies, or heals people while surrounded by an aura of magic!

Don't Forget Concentration: The Skill Behind Every Spell

Here's something many beginner guides skip — and it directly rewards the Free to Play grind.

MindForce runs on a skill called Concentration. The higher your Concentration, the more reliably you channel your chips without your casting being interrupted. And guess how you build Concentration cheaply? By gathering sweat! Every time you sweat a creature, you slowly raise your Concentration skill.

So there's a neat logic to EU's design here: the free, tedious activity every beginner starts with (sweating) is quietly training the exact skill you'll need later to become a MindForce user — and producing the essence that fuels it. It's one of the rare cases in Entropia where "playing for free" actually plants a seed for something bigger down the line. If you already know you'll want to cast one day, those sweating hours aren't fully wasted 😎

The NeoPsion Implant: Max Level and Deterioration

Finally, about the implant in your head — the NeoPsion...

2 things to know about it:

  1. It has a Max Profession Level
  2. It has a Deterioration %

Max Profession Level: the number on the implant is the highest chip level it can hold. A NeoPsion 10 handles chips requiring level 10 or lower; a NeoPsion 20 handles chips up to level 20. So only buy a NeoPsion that matches the chip you actually have — don't overspend on a bigger implant you don't need, and don't buy one too low, or you won't be able to use your chip at all 😏 (you can check a chip's required level in its Item Info window).

Deterioration %: let's say it's 20%. It means the implant absorbs 20% of the deterioration when you use your Nanochip, so your chip lasts longer — but of course, the NeoPsion itself decays faster in exchange. Both the implant AND the chip decay, so factor both into your real cost per cast.

The power of Corrosive Acid... effective, but the least cool effect 😅

Then, like guns, armor or Nanochips, NeoPsions come in (L) Limited and (UL) Unlimited versions:

  • (L) Limited NeoPsion: offers bigger deterioration help, but can't be repaired.
  • (UL) Unlimited NeoPsion: offers lower deterioration help, but can be repaired.

The choice is yours between (L) and (UL).

The power of Healing... or the Super Saiyan effect 😄

Personally, I went for the (L) because its Markup was cheap and the (UL) just wasn't worth it.

Beyond Fireballs: The Full Range of MindForce Chips

MindForce is far more than attack and healing. Once you have an implant, a whole toolbox opens up — here are the categories worth knowing:

  • Attack chips — your ranged "spells" (Fire, Cold, Kinetic, Corrosive Acid, Electric...), each with its own visual effect. A real alternative to guns for hunting.
  • Regeneration (Healing) chips — heal yourself, and single-target allies.
  • Regeneration Field chips — Area-of-Effect healing: heal everyone in a radius (only teammates, if you're in a team).
  • Teleportation chips — the fastest way to travel on a planet, even quicker than a vehicle. (Doesn't work in space, and you can't teleport from one planet to another.)
  • Wormhole chips — open a portal to a friend on your list, letting nearby avatars (including you) teleport to their location. Great for group logistics.
  • Synchronization chips — protect your Concentration from interruption for a while: very useful for uninterrupted casting or sweat gathering.
  • Buff / status chips — temporarily alter your abilities (e.g. a short running-speed boost).
  • Resurrection chips — rare chips that let you revive a fallen avatar on the spot. Niche, but a lifesaver in tough team hunts.

As always, just browse the auctions and you'll find plenty of them! And if you're a healer at heart, know that some players build an entire "profession" out of it — selling their healing services to hunters during big events. Many a fortune in EU has been seeded by finding a profitable niche like that.

2,300+ hours in. I've earned this opinion.

Everyone wants to throw fireballs. Nobody tells you the "magic" runs on sweat and a chip that decays every cast. I use MindForce daily and I'll tell you straight when the UL version is a rip-off. Got a favorite chip setup? Come tell me. I'll be right here.
